Looking to Volunteer?
What does volunteering mean?
We believe in being straightforward and honest. Volunteering with Hoosier Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation is a trusting relationship between our organization and you. Our priority is always providing the best possible care to our patients, which means putting their needs before our own.
This also means we do not: cuddle wildlife patients, expose them to people or pets, or allow them to “play” or behave as domestic animals. These practices are essential for both their wellbeing and their ability to return to the wild safely.
We strictly follow Indiana DNR and USFWS guidelines and regulations to ensure the highest standard of care. While we do have education animals that can be interacted with regularly, our wildlife patients are cared for with the goal of keeping them wild and meeting their specific rehabilitation needs.
What should you expect?
A lot of cleaning and a lot of feeding. Daily tasks often include cleaning enclosures, washing dishes, preparing diets, and handling animal waste. This work is hands-on, sometimes messy, and incredibly important to the animals’ recovery.
